Obama Bypasses Congress Again:

Obama, President

This time, since President Obama cannot get the DREAM Act through the Congress, he has eased the enforcement of immigration laws allowing thousands of illegal aliens to stay in the U.S. and work, even though doing so circumvents U.S. law and the will of Congress.

When I was running for Congress, I did a three-minute memo about another situation where the Administration bypassed the Congress & legislated by regulation [See my April 2012 Three Minute Memo].

The question is, when will we hold the President accountable?  This time Obama has directed the Department of Homeland Security to launch his own version of the DREAM Act. The President knows he is breaking the law. He admitted as much last year.

Okay, let's talk for a moment about what the President said last year.  Basically what he said was that he was trying hard to help all these illegal aliens but he can't change the law, he can only enforce it.  He explains he can help by going around the laws (by not enforcing them?), but, he does it in such a way to make it seem like he's the good guy, and by saying what he's doing isn't really illegal...although it really is!

The President's directive to the Department of Homeland Security is to defer the deportation status and work permits to illegal young people under the age of 30 who came here before 16 years of age. They must have served in the military or be in school or have a high school diploma or GED. They cannot have a criminal record and must have been here for five years. And obviously their families can stay in the country as well.

As President, Obama has the responsibility to enforce ALL U.S. laws. He does not have the luxury to pick and choose! If he wants to implement the actions he has taken he needs legislation, but what he has done shows an utter disregard for the Constitution and the rule of law. Article I Section I of the Constitution makes it very clear that ONLY the Congress has the authority to enact legislation. We need leaders who will hold him accountable and who will follow the constitution.

Meanwhile, illegals are eligible for free food stamps, health care and education. They can get school loans, grants and scholarships. The question we should be asking ourselves is "Why are we taking actions to reward the illegal activity?"

It is expected that over 800,000 illegals will be eligible for the waiver the President is offering. Meanwhile, with high unemployment rates, there are U.S. citizens who are out of work or who are under-employed and they will need to compete with those who are here illegally!

While easing enforcement at the federal level, Obama is doing everything in his power to keep states like Arizona from protecting its own citizens. Example? Suing Arizona from implementing state law 1070.

Again I ask, when will we hold this out-of-control administration accountable?

Here is an idea for Mr. Romney, should he get elected: His first official act should be to put on hold ALL the executive orders and regulations of the Obama years until they can be reviewed and scrutinized.

Felica Harris Randy Weber

Congressional District 14

This week it was disclosed that Congressman Pete Olson and his campaign team have been helping Felicia Harris' campaign since before the May 29 primary election, and he has now formally endorsed her. I can't help but wonder why the Congressman in a neighboring district would be helping pick winners and losers in a primary and whether doing so is appropriate.

This week retiring Congressman and Presidential candidate Ron Paul endorsed Randy Weber to replace him in the Congress.
