Trump's Contract with America

October 31, 2016

We find it interesting that a local newspaper endorsed Hillary Clinton for President. What we are hearing on the street is that a lot of people don’t like either of the two major candidates.  Perhaps the paper should have considered not endorsing anyone for President!

We believe this election should be about policy.  Last week Donald Trump released his policy in his “Contract with America.” It’s worth reading:

  • Propose a Constitutional Amendment to impose term limits on all members of Congress; (Supported by 75% of Americans)

  • Impose a hiring freeze on all federal employees to reduce the federal workforce through attrition (with the exception of the military, public safety and public health);

  • Require that for every new regulation, two existing regulations will be eliminated;

  • Enacting legislation that would initiate a complete ban on foreign lobbyists raising money for American elections;

  • Announce the intent to renegotiate the NAFTA trade agreement or withdraw from it completely and the withdrawal from the Trans-Pacific Partnership;

  • Lifting the Obama/Clinton roadblocks on projects like the Keystone Pipeline;

  • Cancel billions in payments to the U.N. for climate change programs and use the money to fix America’s water and environmental infrastructure;

  • Cancel every unconstitutional executive action, memorandum and order issued by President Obama; ("If the Congress won’t act I will use my pen", Obama said);

  • Nominate a replacement for Justice Scalia from one of the twenty judges named who will defend the Constitution of the United States;

  • Cancel all federal funding to Sanctuary Cities;

  • Begin removing the more than two million criminal illegal immigrants from the country and cancelling visas to foreign countries that won’t take them back;

  • Suspend immigration from terror-prone regions where adequate vetting cannot safely occur;

  • Work with Congress to help redirect education dollars so parents can send their children to the public, private, charter, magnet, religions or home school of their choice;  ending common core; and bringing education supervision back to local communities;

  • Repealing ObamaCare and replacing it with Health Savings Accounts, the ability to purchase health insurance across state lines, and let states manage Medical funds. (Makes sense with premiums jumping an average of 25% next year with high deductibles; especially when one is forced to obtain health insurance or be fined for failing to do so.);

  • Rebuild the military by eliminating the defense sequester and expanding investment in our military; and

  • Enact new ethics reforms to reduce the corruption and influence of special interests on the federal government.

We have observed that the caliber of the staff that elected officials hire to assist and advise them often determines how successful they are.  Mr. Trump’s reliance on groups like the Heritage Foundation, rather than professional politicians, forecasts how successful he will be if elected to office.

Trump’s Contract with America shows he has an understanding of the issues and a road map to make America great, again.  We know through "intelligence guided by experience" that Hillary’s plan for America will lead us in the wrong direction.
