Govt. Shutdown was Political Blackmail by Democrats | To Be Determined | ||

| In the 1940’s, MGM released the movie, Gaslight, with a plot where a husband sought purposefully to deceive his wife for his own gain. Seeking to convince her she wasn’t experiencing strange events -- including the dimming gas streetlights -- he falsely convinced her that what she thought was happening, wasn’t. She eventually convinces herself that she’s insane. She was “gaslighted,” hence the name of the movie. Today “gaslighting” refers to barraging the public with untruths for the benefit of politicians and those in powerful positions; not the public. They rely on “gaslighting” to sell what otherwise would be soundly rejected. Example: Democrats, and some Republicans, backed a Biden-era bill called “The Inflation Reduction Act.” The bill did just the opposite through uncontrolled spending, contributing to prolonged inflation. Spending funds where there isn’t a corresponding income or revenue stream causes inflation, and this bill did just that. Time after time we see legislation like this coming before the Congress that doesn’t do what it is called, rather the opposite. In the Biden-era out-of-control spending legislation was enacted, primarily by Democrats, completely disregarding the lack of incoming revenue. The real result was record-high levels of inflation (above 20%). Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen claimed the inflation was transitory. She “gaslighted” us. Here’s a list of some inflation-causing bills enacted during Biden’s four years in office. The:
Over $6 trillion in extra expenses were authorized during the Biden-era. The Government said inflation was around 10% and transitory. Our experience didn’t square with that. They were “gaslighting” us! The “gaslighting” continues. Remember the Affordable Care Act that was to reduce healthcare costs while allowing you to keep your own doctor? It’s not affordable, with high premiums and high deductibles causing patients to dip into their own pockets for the differences. It was so bad that the government had to “temporarily” subsidize premium payments. Those subsidies expire the end of this year. The Democrats want to make them “permanent” without consideration of revenues to pay for them. The omission of keeping, and increasing, these subsidies was the reason the Democrats shut down the government for over forty days. Luckily for us, the Republicans didn’t cave this time. Look at the Democrats’ enablers, the media. Instead of objective reporting, they spin their stories, “gaslighting” us. Example, where did COVID-19 originate, from bats or from a leak at the Wuhan Lab? Or how about propaganda claiming paper masks will protect you and others from COVID? Reliable studies show significant evidence to the contrary. The real data was readily available, yet we were “gaslighted” by those with agendas. Gaslighting by those in power gave us higher costs, significantly harmed the education of our youth, and gave us a distrust of our government, politicians, and the media. A recent poll found 50% of those between the age of 18 and 39 now favor a communist-type economic system. Why? They can’t afford what used to be the American Dream. Unfortunately they see those who caused the problem as the solution, due in part to “gaslighting.” Those who caused the problem refer to themselves as progressives. Careful now, they’re “gaslighting” you, they are really degressive and regressive! Comment from former employee of the University of Texas Medical Branch: As always, your article was spot on. Thank you. Having said that, shades of the ghost of Joseph Goebbels comes to mind. I hate to drag the Nazis into the conversation, but MGM produced the movie "Gaslighting" in direct response to German propaganda. Goebbels stock and trade was repeating something, ad nauseam, until it was accepted as truth. Whether it was true or not was not germane. The bigger question becomes what inspired Goebbels and where did he learn his methodology? Good old American Marketing!!! As a kid, I was told Lucky Charms cereal was "Magically delicious." In reality it was milk-sodden, surplus cattle feed, foisted onto a gullible American public. Goebbels, and his ilk, would counter that it was nutritious and affordable... and, "magically delicious" to boot. Please don't think gaslighting is the exclusive purview of the Democratic Party. Year to year, the price of coffee is up 30%, while we are being told tariffs will not contribute to inflation. Tell that to my coffee cup. Repeat it enough and it might become believable. Simple economics dictates that if you tax something, the price goes up. Granted, a tariff is not a tax until an item is purchased. So, if I don't buy coffee, I won't be taxed for it. Simple. Wait. What? No coffee...hold on!!! Is that gaslight dimming??? [But at least one has the freedom to avoid such “taxes” ergo the taxation of tea leading up to our war for independence – just don’t buy tea!] Comment from former employee of Stanford University Hospital System currently living in the Chicago area: The Dems try hard to gaslight everyone into believing many things including that we are in a “constitutional crisis”. We were with Biden’s regime. And the constant gaslighting that our democracy is threatened. Well, thankfully we’re a republic if we can keep it. We are in a constitutional crisis in a way as the judges and courts continue to at least try to blur the lines of separation of powers, and usurping the authority of the Executive Branch. Fortunately, the Supreme Court of the United States has made some favorable decisions on behalf of the Administration and our republic. [See Related Story] Regarding the Trump Administration, we’ve never had such transparency in government before. However, there are a few things that don’t seem as transparent: Epstein papers, Thomas Crooke and what all of the drones that flew over the east coast back in Oct-Nov of last year? After Trump demanded that we know, he went silent. Hmmmm. The explanation given was inadequate. There are many unanswered questions. And isn’t “gaslighting” just a euphemism for “lying”? Feedback from a County Clerk in Texas: I never knew the origination of the word “Gaslighting” and really don’t recall it being used much in my younger days. Thanks for sharing. Comment from a cyber-security expert in the Houston area: Did you know the Affordable Care Act (ObamaCare) will not let you participate unless you are employed? And when you questioned the signs about the n95 masks -- during COVID19 – and how it actually protected you people would beat you over the head. The size of the virus was smaller than the size of the n95 particle filter and it didn’t cover your eyes, or your mouth when you were eating, so you could still get it. But anyone questioning the use of masks was pummeled. Now that’s “Gaslighting!” The only thing they did well about COVID19 was the hospitals waived your medical bills! Feedback from a retired petrochemical engineer in the Houston area: Taxes don’t give you (the consumer) any leverage, tariffs do (you don’t have to buy things made outside the United States). |
