Unlike Paxton; Telarico has Dangerous Ideas | Costly and Dangerous |
To Be Determined | |

Recently the White House Council of Economic Advisers (CEA) published a 92-page report -- “The Real Cost of Socialism in America. It exposed a dangerous financial burden if the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) policies are implemented; nearly an additional $49 trillion fiscal burden on our nation and you, the taxpayers. The report examined eight elements of the DSA agenda: - Medicare for all; - Cancellation of all student debt and free college for all; - DSA immigration policies -- which call for open borders, essentially no borders at all; - Universal rent control; - A Green New Deal; - A 32-hour workweek; - A universal wealth tax; and - Changes to policing and incarceration. It says these policies would expand America’s debt to a gross cost of $52.84 trillion through 2036. When Democratic Socialists appear in the legacy media, they claim their policies will save money and reporters have chosen not to question these statements. But flip back to 2010 when President Obama promised Obamacare would cut healthcare costs and you could keep your own doctor – it turned out these were unadulterated falsehoods. According to the CEA report, the five percent annual wealth tax on billionaires might generate additional revenues and bring the total DSA proposal’s burden to a net $48.9 trillion. But this assumes the wealthy decide to stay in the USA; not taking their wealth, investments, and business ventures off shore. This actually happened when California and New York imposed a similar wealth tax. The wealthy fled to other states. The ultimate impact is an inability to generate the revenues needed to sustain their out-of-touch ideas. The report says the cost of the DSA policies would be about $355,000 per American household. This, they contend, would need to be financed through massive debt increases. The result – like what we experienced during the Biden years – would be sky rocketing inflation, something the Trump Administration has been trying to dig out from under during the past year-and-a-half. Medicare-for-all accounts for most of the projected increased costs. CEA estimates this single-payer system would add $47.4 trillion to federal deficits. What’s the benefit for recipients? Canada and the United Kingdom have similar systems and are experiencing long wait times for medical services and shortages of physicians. Canceling student debt and providing free undergraduate tuition would cost between $2.1 and $3.6 trillion, depending on whether free tuition is extended to private colleges. Unfortunately, the Democratic Socialists of America have taken over control of the Democratic Party. Their proposed policies are an existential threat to our nation's fundamental values and a complete disaster for American families who would pay trillions to fund their out-of-touch ideas. Looking behind the curtain; past statements and actions reveal that candidates like James Talarico (D-TX) are onboard with the DSA agenda. If elected Talarico will have a direct impact on your pocket book. He is trying to distance himself from the DSA policies, but the truth is, if elected he’ll follow their lead. Choose Wisely in this election. |

Medicare already has a problem with shortage of Doctors and Practitioners. There are some doctors and medical facilities (like the emergency room on Seawall Blvd) that won’t accept Medicare, Medicaid, or Tricare which complicates things for patients. My daughter, who works for a Woman’s Healthcare Center, said she has time limits set on how long she can spend with patients and that this ends up driving doctors and Nurse practitioners away. The number of patients she sees, the long hours, and the documentation she’s required to fill out on each patient she sees takes away from what she really wants to do -- to help heal people. Many burnout because of the burden’s placed upon them. These are some of the “hidden’ costs that cannot be monetized. Good job to the both of you, and for getting the message out. Hopefully some of the readers will think about the issues you all have raised. I like and appreciate what you guys have written, however I’d suggest some additional factors that give a more balanced treatment of the subject. Although I am a Republican, my party doesn’t have clean hands when it comes to fiscal responsibility. The current level of debt in our country is about $40 Trillion. That’s approximately $229,000 per household. President Trump has done as many of his contemporary presidents, adding to this debt. So, it isn’t just the Democrats who are responsible. That said I completely agree with you that the things the Democratic Socialist of America want to do is 180 degrees in the wrong direction. Additionally, I think you glossed over your Obamacare example. One of my favorites of his broken promises is that a family would save $2,500 in premiums. In reality, premiums doubled. Here is a good summary of the falsehoods of Obamacare. currently living in the Chicago area: There is so much more at stake than the economic damage and implications the Democratic Socialist’s agenda would do to this nation. The greater danger with Socialism/Marxism is it's a transition away from capitalism (free economic choices for people) toward communism (where a small group of “elites” make choices for the proletariat). All of these so called, "perks" may sound good on their face, but they don't play out well. The DSA agenda would have the government try to handle a flood of impossible demands, pushing us toward an economic collapse. That’s exactly what James Talarico and those of his ilk are attempting to accomplish. They are playing to low-information voters, those who feel desperate in their current situations, and those who want a "free ride" wanting government to play the role of Sugar Daddy in their lives, without realizing all that comes in that package. These candidates have either learned nothing from history, are ill-informed, or more likely want power and don’t care who gets hurt in the long-run. They are playing on people's emotions and ignorance while perpetuating the globalist agenda. The thing they don't realize is that they probably will not be among the elites who will benefit in the end. To quote Amir Tsarfati (a native Israeli speaker and author), "A massive cloud of demonic influence is covering Western Europe and parts of the USA. We are on a precipice. The strong delusion arising from an alliance of Marxist, Islamist and radical LGBTQ ideologies is blinding millions to truth and even the simplest logic. The sad part is that those embracing this ideological cocktail are far more committed to taking their convictions to the polls. They vote in large numbers while many conservatives stay home claiming that 'politics is not for us'. This goes far beyond Trump and his time in office. It concerns the future of America and what this nation will look like for decades to come." It is time for all of us to view voting not simply as a privilege, but as a DUTY not to be dismissed or shirked. Our choices have consequences for us, our children, and our grandchildren. All of us need to wake up, spread the word, and get out the word about the DSA forces and others who would destroy our nation. Each of us need to vote. Every vote counts. Our future is at stake. Good column. You just might want to add that a wealth tax of five percent for the first year, but repeated for five years, becomes 25 percent! Additionally, don’t count on these people to stop at just billionaires. It’s just a foot-in-the-door, a precursor to a subsequent wealth tax on the assets of everyone including the middle class. They will inevitably claim they need more tax money to spend on their pet causes. When you get to the root of what they want it’s power; power to tell others what they will do and what they are allowed to do! As always, you guys are spot on. One of the simplest explanations of the inherent failings and shortcomings of Socialism involves an analogy about a swimming pool. Taxing the wealthy is like taking water from the deep end of the pool and pumping into the shallow end of the pool, and expecting the water level to rise. It’s just not going to happen! I am reminded of what George Wills famously said, "England is an island made of coal surrounded by a sea full of fish. In less than 10-years of being under Socialism, there were both coal and fish shortages in England." 'Nuff said. Where I live on Galveston Island I’ve noticed a lot of Talarico yard signs. To me, it's like putting a sign in my yard saying, "I want to pay more taxes because the government knows how to spend my money better than I do." I just don't get it! | |||
