Election season has arrived with its time-honored practice of politicians saying things to get votes, things they don’t really believe.  Often, they check the political winds, adjusting positions to go with prevailing views.   Senate candidate James Talarico (D) is no different; flip-flopping on issues like his understanding of the nature of God, abortions for men claiming to be women, and believing there are six genders.    Changing his positions is posturing so you will vote for him, giving him power, and then pushing his real agenda if elected.   Separating the “wheat from the chaff” is best done by examining candidates past actions and associations.  In 2020 Talarico described capitalism as one of the most “oppressive systems,” and spoke of “dismantling” it; language similar to the far-left Democratic Socialists of America (DSA).  He wants to transfer wealth and get rid of the wealth of billionaires, even though 50% of his campaign is being funded by these out-of-state megadonors. His close associates include many who support the same.  The truth: capitalism works because it requires accountability with meaningful value.  Most people rely on the genius and skills of others for our survival.   Capitalism offers freedom; the opportunity for success.  Success must be earned.  DSA’s destructive socialism is just the opposite. We’re seeing its fruits with mass exodus of people/businesses fleeing New York and California.  The outcome of what DSA and Talarico are offering is that socialism works until it runs out of other people’s money [i.e., Prime Minister Margaret Thacher, circa 1987].  In the 1600s, the colonists in Plymouth began with an investor-mandated socialist structure. The result was poverty; all suffered deeply because of it.  There was an "unwillingness to work, discontent, a loss of mutual respect, a sense of slavery, and injustice,” Governor Bradford observed.   To save the colony, he instituted private ownership, a capitalistic concept which encouraged productivity.  The initial collective-approach (socialism) lacked this incentive. In 1976 Lieutenant Victor Belenko defected from Russia fling his Mig 25 to Japan. He did so because of his disillusionment with communist/socialist Russia.  What propaganda described as a “worker’s paradise” was poverty and economic hardship. Unlike the empty promises of free stuff promoted by some today, nothing was free in the “worker’s paradise.”  They were living on a continual diet of empty promises that were never fulfilled.   When Reagan and Gorbachev meet in Iceland in 1986, Gorbachev argued rigorously for his socialistic beliefs, while Reagan stood firm for America’s capitalistic practices. Gorbachev used exactly the same arguments Bernie Sanders and his DSA friends (who are taking over the Democrat party) are using today. Two years later, the USSR collapsed under its own weight.   The same empty promises made today by Talafrico and the DSA are no different.    Texans should not be fooled by the empty promises and destructive ideologies of James Talarico.   If elected, he will continue aligning himself with the left-wing Democrat Socialists.   “Will the real James Talarico please stand up? We encourage you to separate Ken Paxton’s “wheat” from Talarico’s  “chaff” when you vote in November.

Comment from a 4th generation San Franciscan currently living in Texas: You mention that 50% of James Talarico’s financial support is coming from out-of-state megadonors.  Something that has always bothered me is when people from one state campaign for those in another, be it from financing a campaign to phone-banking.  When my sister was alive, she was hooked up with a group of Democrats in the San Francisco Bay Area who would hand-write post cards to voters in Virginia encouraging them to vote for Democrat candidates.  In my view, this is inappropriate.  Let Virginians do that and let Texans decide who they want to contribute to or campaign for.  Californians, this is not your state it’s ours!  Let us decide for ourselves, not Hollywood, not the loonies who seem to be controlling the Democrat Party these days. Don’t try to California our Texas!
