Violations of Natural Laws | Next Trump has more combat experience than Walz (D-MN) |
Published in The Galveston County Daiy News August 13, 2024 Our column last month was about the crumbling of virtue in our nation, in particular HONOR. As an example, we laid out actions from the left trying to hamstring Donald Trump with legal warfare, attempting to keep him from having an effective first term, and to keep him from returning to the White House. To a large extent mainstream media has been willing participants in these efforts resulting in the deterioration of HONOR. At the Republican convention, Trump offered an olive branch to those outside the GOP in an attempt to heal our nation's divisions. His best approach is to stick to the important issues like uncontrolled and illegal immigration, crime reduction, the economy and rampant inflation, and the need for a coherent energy policy that includes all viable sources including oil and gas. Many have rejected the sincerity of Trump's convention rhetoric. We can't speak for him but we offer a vision similar to the one offered 250 years ago by our founders. They considered themselves different from politicians. They were statesmen from various backgrounds: farmers, businessmen, scientists, even mathematicians. The common thread was they focused on truths -- unchangeable natural laws and principles not subject to the relativism we see today. They understood violations of natural laws reap severe societal consequences. They recognized certain alienable rights were God-given, not government-given. Like the law of gravity is unchanging, they realized truths, like, liberty, the freedom to make individual choices belong to the nation's citizenry and shouldn't be eroded by the ever-increasing reach of government. Government exists because of its citizens; not citizens and their rights existing because of government. The Declaration of Independence defined three God-given truths; the free exercise of conscious, the rights and control of property, and the protection of life. Inherit with the three are essential principles that must be present; self-sufficiency, equality of opportunity (not equity), education of truths (not indoctrination), and moral integrity. When government picks winners and losers, allowing thievery and in some cases actively encouraging it (like allowing theft as long as it's less than $950) the fabric of society crumbles. Back in the day we'd never lock our doors. Not so in today's "It's all about me" society. The lack of a moral imperative is destroying the fabric of our nation. We understand many reject these truths. Our hope is that like in the late 1700s the issue of freedom will come front and center. The indoctrination of our children in today's education system prevents a clear discernment of truth. In the end, truth will win out and in time a greater number will awaken. The coronation of Kamala Harris and ignoring the choice of Democrat voters is another symptom of a crumbling society with its backroom politics, an ignoring of individual voices. Can there be a greater danger to a democracy? We need to reject rulers, and instead embrace trustworthy statesmen who stand on principle and who aren't relativists -- changelings who are untrustworthy. The consequences are deep and significant. Our freedoms are at risk. | ||
